Development FAQs
Will you send me a written proposal?
No. Proposals are a project in their own right and I've found that proposals are usually asked for by people who are looking for my recommendations for free or window shopping. I also do not bid on work. If you need a software recommendation list, please order a consulting package.
What is the process?
After receiving your information, a planning call is scheduled to discuss your needs. If you choose to work with me, a deposit will be taken and the first round of development will commence based on the information in the intake form.
What about software?
Software is chosen based on your site needs and is billed separately. MOST software packages are commercial and require renewal at varying intervals. Budget should be set aside for ongoing websites to maintain currency of technology and security.
What about images?
All images that are not owned by the client must be licensed for commercial use. Formats are jpg or png with png being preferred by social media. Licensing of images and image editing are billed separately and require acceptance of the terms of use.
Do you offer training?
Yes. Training is available for your staff if you don't have someone handling it.
What type of hosting do you offer?
Standard hosting is available with or without a dedicated IP address and with or without CPanel access, with varying levels of storage, bandwidth and databases.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the scope of the work and your software needs. Each site is estimated individually. Estimates are not final quotes and the rate can be higher than the estimate due to midstream changes and additions.
How long does it take?
Anywhere from 14 - 90 days, or longer, depending on the scope and depth of the work. Rush service is available.
How do I hire you?
I only work by referral. It saves a lot of time and aggravation as I have a 100% referral rate and any of my clients can attest to the quality of my work.
How long have you been in business?
Since 1994, continuously.
Do you offer support?
Yes, I offer monthly support plans for sites I have built and that are hosted on my server. I do not offer support for sites that are not on my server.
What is included in my website?
Your website will have the software you requested, installed and configured, email accounts set up, layout and contact information.
Why don't you link to your portfolio sites?
It skews the client site statistics. Having people browsing that aren't legitimate potential users of THEIR services is using their resources for no benefit to them.
